Lightning 7-15

Posted By Tony Aguire

Got home from work just in time last night to get a few decent lightning pics from a thunderstorm forming to the east, this is one of them.

Ethos/C8

Posted By Tony Aguire

So....Having been living with the cheap $99 Celestron Plossl eypiece/filter set that I have had for 7 years, I am thinking of taking the plunge and looking into EPs that I will want to hang onto for a while. I also have a pair of WO 20mm Swans that came with a binoviewer.

So how would an 13mm Ethos perform at in a C8 f/10, or at f/6.3. I also have a WO SD66 f/5.9 for my grab and go. My main concern is will I be able to appreciate the wide field of view?

Thanks and clear skies

Obama

Kudos to Obama for being such a strong leader in one of the most difficult times (economic, and otherwise) this country has faced in its history. Considering his overall lack of experience, as well as his controvercial methods of engaging the country he is doing a great job. Obama certainly making lemonade out of the lemons left to him by the previous administration. I am very glad I voted for him and will certainly do so again in 2012! grin I shudder to think of where we would be today if Mccain and Palin had won the election.

I am one of the many Moderates that are glad our voices were heard and someone stepped up with the ability to move this country in the right direction into the future, instead of keeping us mired in 20th century outdated ideology and policy. We need to take a progressive path to a sustainable vibrant future, Obama is making this happen. Kudos to the majority of Americans that agreed with me!

Help

Posted By Tony Aguire

I have a WO 66SD Petzval w/2 speed rotatable focuser....

I am wondering if what I am seeing is abnormal, or is there something that needs to be fixed here.

When I am slightly inside focus, the star is oblong. When outside focus the star is again oblong, but 90* perpendicular to the image inside focus. I am using an inexpensive 2" diagonal, this happens no matter what eyepiece I use. Any input would be appreciated

Clear Skies.

What is this snake?

Posted By Tony Aguire

We found this guy in our back yard while surveying the flood damage from the latest monsoon storm. He is very young, about 16 inches long. The red/yellow/black is not terribly well defined...
