reprocessed jupiter - 23rd Feb 1625UT

Posted By Tan Wei Leong

Dear everyone,

The skies is cloudy and I've no new mars images so I dig out some old jupiter image and reprocessed them.

I feel the reprocessed is much lesser noise and looks more natural.

Here's the reprocessed version.

and the original version.

Posted By Tan Wei Leong

Dear friends,

The cloudy and wet conditions over Singapore for the last two weeks have abated at last and I've managed to obtained some mars image this morning.

I've to go to work so I rush process the 1951UT image which is attached along with this message.

Transparency was 6/10 and seeing was 5-6/10.
Toucam Pro + Televue 5x powermate + baader UV-IR blocker
250mm Takahashi Mewlon @ f/67.5
Stack of about 1000 frames out of 1800.
1/25sec and 60% gain

Dust is observed over Nilokeras, and Mare Acidalium.

Dear friends,

Here's the mars image from 8th July 2003.

mars image 15th July 2003 1941UT

Posted By Tan Wei Leong

Dear Friends,

The skies weather here has been cloudy most of the time for this month and this morning I managed to steal a few minutes when a small clearing occurs thru the clouds which allows me to image for about 30mins.

Seeing was 5-7/10 and transparency 4-7/10 (thin high clouds)

As usual the images are done with the 250mm Takahashi mewlon @ f/67.5 with the Televue 5x powermate + Philips Toucam Pro and the Baader UV-IR blocking filter. I've experimented with a combination of televue 2x+1.8x barlow for a lower F ratio in the region of f50 which I will process the AVI and send them out this evening.

Best Regards

mars image 15th July 2003 - 1959UT

Dear friends,

This is another mars image from 15th July 2003 at 1959UT.

Damian peach is kind enough to process it for me.

I think this strikes a balance between details and "natural look"

mars image 15th July 2003 - super natural version

Dear friends,

This is the "super natural" version of the 1959UT image.

I've tried my best to make little processing to it.

Finally the skies has cleared and I managed my first mars image in August and in time for the near max size for clost approach.

I've a couple more AVI which I will go thru and process them. Once I'm done I will post them.

mars images 22nd August 2003

Posted By Tan Wei Leong

Dear everyone,

Here's the mars image from 22nd August 2003. Mars has reached 25" and 5 more days to max size.

This is also my first image using the 40cm pentax cassegrain at the Singapore Science Center Observatory.

Please note the limb haze as well as clouds over sytris major.

Special thanks to those that help me back with my "feeling" during processing. The beauty of astronomy is such that we all share what we have with the rest.
