12 Volt Power Connector

Posted By Peter Glus

Hello!

I am trying to find a Radio-Shack like 12-volt power connector that has a hollow core male and and a female end that I can mount into the rear of my 12" SCT. I got one from radio shack but the thickness of the rear cell is more than the length of the female socket. I scoured mcmaster but no luck. Any ideas? I am basically trying to have a convenient 12 volt power hookup for my cooling fans (which I am also installing in the rear cell).

Best Sci Fi Ever

Posted By Peter Glus

The best IMHO...Blade Runner. Kicked myself for missing the opportunity to not see the "director cut" release that was playing in NYC a few months ago. The scene where that android gives that speech in the end about how all his memories "are like tears in the rain" and then the dove flys away...give me shivers just writing it!

Holy Cow -- Just got a unitron!

Posted By Peter Glus

Had a fork mount, Vixen SP, Vixen GP, lxd55, lxd75, and currently have a CI700.

Just got a 3" unitron mount for my smaller scope....WOW. What a BEAUTIFUL mount. Love the design, slow mo spring controllers, tension adjustment, tripod, etc. This is a jewel!

Nice Design for Split Roof

Posted By Peter Glus

My neighbor just felled their tree blocking 40 percent of my sky, and IT IS TIME FOR THE HOME OBSERVATORY!

Does anyone have a good designs, photos, or website with resources for a hinged split roof (i.e., A roof w/ two parts that slit to open out)?

Whats the most realistic portrayal of an alien?

Getting over the fact that this is an odd question (what is a realiztic portrayal of a yet-to-be-discovered thing), what do you think?

My vote is for "T2" Not a sci-fi movie, but I think at some point intelligence and flesh-and-blood split paths.

Slip Clutch GEMS for DSCs

Posted By Peter Glus

I have a CI700, and I am addicted to the slip clutch mechanism plus the slow mo drives plus DSCs. Are there any "smaller" mounts that have these features?

Do you really, honestly believe in life out there?

I do. I am just curious, with so many of us staring at the heavens, what percentage believes this as well...

Mounting Large Scopes in Tandem

Posted By Peter Glus

I am considering mounting together my 12" SCT and 6" refractor together. I was wondering if anyone had experience with tandom mounting of this size. Could you also send pics? I am very interested in the details of the tandom plates and the balancing issues that you went through. THANKS!
