UPDATE to Silicone on my mirror

Posted By Sonya Ward

Hi All,
OK, The maker of the mirror tells me that because they put a coating to protect the alumium. They tell me alcohol, acetone, or thinner should be ok, followed by losts of distilled water as long as its clean and no rubbing the mirror.
I tried a small amount of alcohol no change in the silicone or the silicone but I made me a little nervous because it made a green haze and I was afraid it was damageing the coatings.
Then I tried the acetone, it worked a little better the mirror was really shiny but silicone still there.
The last thing I used was a goo remover kind of a citrus based cleaner. I worked much better but did not remove all of it.
I will keep you posted as to results. just in case this happens to any one else.
