Paracorr

Posted By Luis Eguren

Was wondering if the Paracorr (2") would have any "visible" (detectable by a casual user) effect when used on a Starfinder 10"F/4.5?

Thx for the input,

Tech Pan 2415 Question

Posted By Luis Eguren

Can this film (hypered and unhypered) be developed by "1hr photo labs" that do B&W work?

I'd like to burn roll or two, but the developing side (although I've done it many times before), just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Appreciate the advice,

Digital camera with long exposure capability

Posted By Luis Eguren

Looking to do some "limited" astrophotography with regular consumer available digital camera (Nikon, Olympus, Canon etc...). Looking for something in the 3 to 4 Megpixel range, that can do "long exposures" (in the 16+ sec range).

Anyone have any advice on these...many I've looked at have no such "long exposure" capability.

Appreciate input / feedback.

Re: "Old" Meade Pier

Posted By Luis Eguren

Actually, it looks like my old DS-10 pier. If it is 4" diameter pier, 1" diameter shafts. Uses 120 AC with a motor that is 1/10 rpm, bristol (I think - have to check). The eq head is attached to the pier with a large hex nut and a small recessed "locking" screw. I believe the drive gear is 3" in diameter.

Mine is from the early 1980's (1982 or 83 I think). I don't think it came with a manual at the time. This was used to support the DS line of scopes. not sure they made a 6 or 8" at the time, but they did make "Resarch series" in those sizes. Remember being told that the mounts of the DS-10 and smaller Research Series were similar (but not totally the same). Couldn't tell you if that is true. But from the image it does look like the mount from that tiem period.

Thought I'd share this will the group. Took this through a 7" Meade Mak (prime focus and no barlow) and a Toucam Pro webcam on Oct 15th. Seeing was pretty bad about 3-4 (on sacle of 10). Would appreciate feedback... especially on colour balance.

Thx

SAturn Nov 27, 2002 w/ Meade 7" Mak

Posted By Luis Eguren

Saturn was imaged on Nov 27 through a Meade 7" Mak and a 1.6X Antares barlow. Seeing was about 4/10 and temp was about 25F.

20 of the best frames from an avi file were stacked to produced the final image. Avi was taken at 5 fps. Slight unsharp mask and gaussian blur was applied to image in PhotoShop.

More sharing with the group.

Jupiter through a 10" F/4.5 Meade DS-10, 1.6X Antares barlow and ToUcam Pro webcam. 16 of the best frames stacked and unsharp masking in PhotoShop.

This was a preliminary pass at the image, ghave another bunch of avi's to go through to "enhance" and add to the image.

Using G-11 electronics on Byers 58 Mount - doable?

Posted By Luis Eguren

Awhile back I came across a posting (don't remember where) about someone discussing swapping the Byers (Hurst) synchro motors for the Losmandy G-11 motor + electronics (steppers). Can anyone share any info on this possibility?

Thx for the help,

Paracorr visual vs non visual difference

Posted By Luis Eguren

Am looking into buying a Paracorr and have seen the visual type, but someone keeps referring to the CCD/Camera version.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the diffrence?

Also, is the tuneable top worth it (I'm NOT using the Nagler SWA eyepieces)

Any help would be appreciated.
