William Optics

Hello,

I got the WO and a focuser for my Orion XT8, but haven't been able to get them into focus down the block (daylight) about 100 yards.

What is the proper way to do it? It seems as if it needs a few more mm to go deeper for a focus.

Thanks for your help!

My Street Lamp

Posted By Dennis Barrington

I was focusing my finders the other day and I decided to use a street lamp down the road.

First thing I noticed was that it had texture. Never saw a lamp glass cover up close before.

As it started getting dark, I saw all kinds of insects buzzing around it.

Now, it was getting cloudy out, so I wasn't going to see much up there.

But then it dawned on me. We are basically only looking at light anyways. Shiny objects, or the blocking of them, or reemission.

And as terrestrial as it might be, there's a lot to see on your local lamp post. (and it's legal!)

So if it's cloudy tonight, that's what I'm doing. Might even sketch it at intervals...

BTW, anyone notice those "variable" lamps?

Newtonian Mirror versus Bathroom

Why is it I look WAY older looking down my scope than in the bathroom mirror?

I seem to see wrinkles that aren't there in the "real" world?

Televue Products

Posted By Dennis Barrington

Please excuse my lack of experience.

I've never viewed through a Televue product.

But I wonder how great they are if I see them for sale predominately.

Unless they've become the new Gold Standard of currency.

Personally I'd think if I had the best eyepiece money could buy, I'd value it and never sell it.
So why all the Nagler sales?

Is this the right place for UFOs

And while we're at it, lets bring back the celestrial liver readings.

I know from personal experience that my gut reacts to the sight of stars!
(I just ask to be deceased from natural causes before my own reading...)
