Manual 35mm SLR Camera

For landscapes, focus on the distant horizon, or treeline, and back it off a smidgen, as if you were focusing on something a bit closer (hyperfocal).
At f/16, everything in the picture should be tack sharp.

Use the sunny 16 rule, and/or your light meter for the first exposure, and then change your shutter speed 1 click higher for the second, 1 click lower for the third (bracketing).

Use a tripod and a cable release.

Finally, order some Kodak E200, Elite 200, or Ektachrome 200, or Fuji 400X and do some star trails at f/8 - f/16 on the "B" shutter speed with the cable relese locked open for a half an hour or more.

Have fun!

New smoker tax

Posted By Thomas Pierson

I'm a clove smoker. I know I need to quit, but I'm afraid to now with all the stress I'm under. The ironic thing is that I would save money, which is what I'm worried the most about right now.
The government has already made cloves illegal. I guess that's their way of heping a brother out. I can't stand regular cigarettes. :S

Possible Scam?

Posted By Thomas Pierson

So far everything sounds normal.

Although I'm not an expert, I have learned some valuable lessons here.

Get the seller's phone number, and discuss the items in question.

You can google the seller's name, email address, home address, user name, etc.

Above all else, use a credit card through paypal, so you can reverse the charges if anything goes wrong. Never, ever, ever send a personal check.

What is the best 120 fomat film currently availabl

Posted By Thomas Pierson

If you can find the Ektachrome 200, go for it. Elite 200, E200, Ektachrome 200 are all basically the same thing, as far as astrophotagraphy goes.

Fuji Acros 100 (black & white) has good reciprocity, it cn be hypered, but it has low red response. Otherwise, it seems to be similar to the old Tech Pan.

Fuji Sensia 400, again, weaker red response.

Fuji Provia 400X, weaker red response, but good blue.

If you can find some old Fuji Provia 400F, that has great blue and red response.

I have had decent results with expired Provia 400F and E200 film (35mm), though my scans don't tell the story, my scanner is a flatbed. They all seem a bit purple to me, even after processing. This is from Fuji Provia 400X, the new stuff.
