Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hello,

I am back on Astromart, I just created my new account, and i share with you my first decent image taken with the STL11000 camera.
18X15 minutes with my 155 f7 StarFire EDF, and the new 155TCC compressor flattener, from my light polluted urban area.

Hello, and happy new year from southern France!

Here is my last image taken on december 27th and 28th, processed only this morning on my favorite computer screen :-)

21X15 minutes , with my 155f7 StarFire EDF and the 155TCC, on the 900GTO mount, SBIG STL11000 at -25C, 10nm Ha filter.
Light pollution and moon were present but seeing was exceptionnal.
Processing by levels and curves in Photoshop CS.

NGC 6820, first shot of the year, at last...

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hi all,

June is not the best month for deep sky imaging, but at least I was able to do my..... first shot of the year.
I had to wait 6 months!

Here is NGC6820, that I have rarely seen imaged.
I used my fellow 155EDF with the TCC, STL11000 (at only -10C so image is quite noisy), and a 10nm Ha filter.
4h 15 minutes ( 17X15 subs), were used.
Lots of light pollution unfortunately, short night, and poor CCD cooling.

Here is the result, with soft processing.

Gilles grin

PS I LOVE my 155, and each time I image I love it more and more...thank you Rolando for making so oustanding scopes and mounts: no stress, only fun under the stars. wink

Why a good mount is important ...

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Roland always tells: "The single most important item for the imager is the mount. next comes the mount. Then comes the mount.... Get the picture?"

I can confirm he is 100% right. grin
Attached is the proof. I did some imaging last night, seeing was very good. Good seeing and good focusing means that tracking problems will be more visible on the image. 8O
So...

NGC281, first light ST10 and Baader 7nm Ha

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hello,

here is my last image, NGC281 taken with my fellow 155EDF, ST10XME and field flattener. And first real image 100% processed with my Vista laptop...
Taken on october 10th and 11th.
7nm Ha Baader, autoguiding 6 seconds.
35x10 minutes, Sigma Clip combine, processed in Photoshop, unsharpened! 8)
Seeing was quite poor, and with sudden changes, around 3 seconds the first night, around 2 seconds the second night, :S

Here is the webpage, and a link to the full image.

This is the first time that I use my Dell laptop to process my CCD images, so I was not sure with the result. But finally, I am quite pleased with the image on my main processing screen so I did not touch it further.

Comments are welcome, smile
