How do you change the default color when placing an ad? Where do you or how do you place the brackets to do this? Thanks, Bill

Site Display Load Times

Posted By William Doskocz

I need some help with the time it takes to load the right side ad colunm. When I log in to Astromart the major company section (right column just below the Funding Member Box) is not populated. It takes about 10 seconds to load and then the whole page contracts to the left and the settles back to proper size. You may then select the buttons at the top of the page. When you select the tab it takes you to the selection (it usually pick Classifieds). Then you have the same thing happen on that sheet (the major company waits 15 second to populate then does it's contractions) then all is well. A major problem come when I do a Classified Search. I does this between each ad I want to look at. I love this site but wonder what I am doing that may cause this problem.

Please help me, Bill

Script that runs the Face Book insert causing prob

Posted By William Doskocz

When logging into Astromart the script that inserts the Face Book insert just below the Anacortes logo is causing a lockup of my computer. I run Win XP with IE 7. The script does not insert the Face Book blocks but just runs until the Windows warning message about the script is running and will disable you computer (this takes 3 to 5 minutes to appear). If you then check "YES" in the warning block to disable the script you can then use Astromart. This is a real pain. Please look into this (started on 7/4/13). This goes back to an earlier problem with this script.

Thanks, Bill

Shipping to APO address

Posted By William Doskocz

Dennis,

I was a Manager for the USPS before I retired in December. APOs and FPOs are the point the USPS delivers all military mail. The big ones are at New York, San Francisco and Seattle also a number of smaller ones as necessary. Each base or unit is assigned a Zip Code for routing of the mail. The military tells the USPS what APO or FPO to deliver what ZIP to and it can change if the unit moves. Take a Navy ship that moves from East Coast to West Coast and the USPS will then change the routing from NY to San Francisco. At each APO or FPO there are both USPS and military employees but after the USPS employees hand the mail over to the military it is no longer touched or routed by the USPS. This allows the military to arrange the best and fastest transportation to get the mail to the units if the unit moves then the military knows where to route it. The person mailing an item to an APO or FPO just goes to the post office and the clerk has a book with restrictions by ZIP for the mail. It usually must meet the restrictions of the country it is going to but the military has Zips that they do not allow the USPS to know where they are routed so the military instructs the USPS on what size and what can be mailed to each Zip. The only major restrictions to some Zips are size due to the item having to fit in a sack so it can be flown. You also must meet normal postal restrictions and usually provide a Customs Form (the clerk can tell you which one).

There are a number of reasons that UPS and FEDX don't deliver to APOs and FPOs money, security and federal laws. It all goes back to before the USPS became a Semi-Private Corp.

If you send something to a service man/woman at a APO or FPO you can be sure you are safe. If you have problems and you insured it the USPS will pay you. Problems can be refered to the Base or Unit Commander by letter if necessary.

Hope this helps, Bill

Am I just paranoid?

Posted By William Doskocz

How much feedback does he have? How long has he been a member? Does his profile city match the address you sent the check? You can check this out on "User Profile". That will at least help your mind. It is possible that a Postal Inspector could assist you if it is fraud and you sent the check through the mail. If you have any questions when buying, it pays to get a USPS Money Order because when it is cashed they get all kind of information from that person. Your check should have a DV or Account number on it when they cash it. That might help.
