How do I find out the SAO numbers for variable stars?

I thought I saw something on the terminator once in a 10" reflector. It looked like a red in color spark rolling across the surface of the dark face. I assume that micrometeors strike the Moon with the same frequency that they burn up in the Earth's atmosphere. I thought perhaps it was a small meteor grazing the surface of the Moon.

It was probably a satellite. I read that you can figure out what kind of satellite it is by its orbit. If it is travelling west to east, it is your garden variety satellite. If it is travelling north or south, it is likely a weather satellite. If it is travelling east to west it is a spy satellite. (Don't tell anyone).

Eye Concerns Viewing Full Moon

Posted By Alexander Wilson

I don't think you have to worry.

I like to look at the Moon without a filter in a 20 inch Obsession. Sure, its bright. Sure I have trouble seeing the steps on the ladder afterwards, but it hasn't done any damage to my eyes. Its like turning up the sound loud on your car stereo.
