Celestron/Vixen C6 Focus problems

Posted By Michael Greenham

Hello everyone. I have a Celestron/Vixen C6 f/5 with a sliding focuser. My problem is that the focuser does not have enough travel to bring some of my eyepieces into focus. The 9mm ortho, 12mm widefield, and 32mm plossl will not come into focus. My 26mm, 22mm, 20mm & 15mm plossls all focus fine. Can anyone help explain why this is so. wink

Celestron C80ED balance issue

Posted By Michael Greenham

Hello everyone,

I have a C80ED mounted Alt-Az. The scope is mounted in the rings all the way forward to the focuser but I am still having balance problems. Does anyone know of a cheap solution for adding weight to the front of my scope?

Triplet objective f/2.8 78mm??

Posted By Michael Greenham

Don't know much about ATM but took a chance and bought this triplet objective from the big auction site. Can anyone tell me anything about it. Who, where, when? I think it's a f/2.8 78mm. Would it be suitable for a finder or small refractor? I think its Russian.

Help identify this mount. Vixen? Televue???

Posted By Michael Greenham

Can anyone help me identify this mount. I don't have it yet, but it is coming with a Pronto. Looks like it has the same feet as the Vixen Polaris EQ mount. Maybe just the legs are from the Polaris mount. This is the only photo I have.

Boom Lake, Canadian Rocky Mountains, Alberta.

I use to work in a small hotel in Lake Louise, AB. We would always go hiking to remote locations like the one in the photo on our days off.

Wanted R & P focuser shaft for Celestron/Vixen

Posted By Michael Greenham

HELP! I am in need of a rack and pinion focuser shaft for a Celestron C4.5 reflector. I think it may be the same as the SP-C80, firstscope 80, firstscope 114mm, etc. Does anyone know where I could get one that will fit? Can you buy this type of item somewhere?

3rd floor balcony, light pollution and a SCT.

Posted By Michael Greenham

I was lucky enough to get clear skies Christamas night. Here's a photo of me with my Celestron C8 set up in Alt-Az. Because of the roof behind me, I can only see N, NE, and NW. Lots of light pollution, not an ideal observation location but it's all I got right now for quick viewing. You can see The Sickle of Leo, Leo Minor, and the hind foot of the Great Bear behind me. Good luck and happy viewing.

How cold is too cold?

Posted By Michael Greenham

It's clear, the sky is dark, and it's -28C/-18.4F right now. I want to go outside but I am nervous about my gear in these low temps. Should I be?
