Re: Buchanan rallies loyal opposition

Posted By Chuck Cunningham

If by "socialism" you mean the government having a greater stake in the banks, I didn't notice the "capitalist" banks fighting that very hard. So Bush & Co. dug an even deeper hole than we thought -- and you blame Obama because it's going to take longer to get out of? As for Market performance: what direction was it headed in the last quarter of 2008? "Geithner is clueless about how to save the banks"? Is there anyone who is not "clueless about how to save the banks"? Except, of course, for those opposed to Obama who don't think the banks should be saved and hope he fails to do so, and are apparently eager to put up with the consequences. And the Republicans' official response to Obama's address to congress was, "Put your heads back in the sand (or wherever it was that you had them)." Now that's clueless.

Re: Let the rallies begin

It is too easy to oppose something. When they start proposing viable alternatives, then I'll listen. Do they think everything is going to be just fine if we do nothing at all?

Re: Obama's support for illegals

Posted By Chuck Cunningham

Nothing is likely to get done about illegal immigration as long as the states who pretend to make the most noise about the issue (build walls and put vigilantes on the border) keep inviting them to work. The hypocrites can't flourish without them. What do you think we should do with contractors who bid successfully for the new government-financed projects and then staff up with illegals?

Re: Wikipedia turns into political rag

Hold on a sec. Wikipedia is certainly not where I would go for the last word on anything, BUT: the "eligibility issues surrounding Barack Obama's presidency" were totally bogus, and it is a documented fact that "Prior to his marriage, Bush had multiple accounts of alcohol abuse". Seems like YOU have a problem with them recording truth that you don't like, and not recording lies that you do?

Re: The Great Obama Depression

I think maybe it's a good thing that the public is "more concerned about the economy" than they previously were. If they been "more concerned" eight years ago, maybe we wouldn't be in this hole. Unless you can come up with an easy way out instead of just throwing rocks, it doesn't bother me that people are "more concerned". They should be. There is much to be "concerned" about.

Jim: I would have thought that you would support taking a firm stance towards Iran.

Re: man made satellites

I find it an amazingly common occurrence. Another thing that surprised me even more was that twice while I was looking at the Moon, an airplane flew in front of it! I would have thought that had odds comparable to winning the lottery.

Good article on crime rates by race

Try breaking out the stats by economic status and geographic location instead of race and see what you get.

"IF you have a lot of money, chances are you do not pay a lot of tax."

Maybe that's a situation we should have a look at?

M31 - Ancient photons with a resurrected classic

Posted By Chuck Cunningham

The great thing about photons is that they are always just as good as they were on the day they were born. They never get tired and never wear out, as your wonderful image clearly demonstrates.
