Rather than face a normal Republican candidate, the DNC would rather directly support extremist GOP candidates in the primaries so they have a better chance of winning in the general election, caring nothing about the consequences should their strategy fail. I am 100% convinced the DNC will do anything they can to secure the nomination for Donald Trump - it's basically their only chance of winning at this point.

The Dems strategy is little more than the Saddam Husien strategy in Kuwait: If I can't have it, I'll just burn it down on the way out.

Do you think the Democrats would have employed the same strategy if Trump wasn't promoting the big lie of election fraud and backing up only those who do likewise?
No, of course not, they'd be going toe to toe on germaine issues like the economy, domestic and or foreign policy and basic, staple issues in their states or communities.
That's what happens in normal times but what we have now with Trump is anything but normal. It's clear to me the Democratic strategy here is essentially that found in the art of war: using an enemy's strength (the big lie of election fraud accepted by a base) and turning that into a weakness as its exposed and withered to the majority of the voting force. 
Again, I'm not a fan of this strategy and I don't want to see it deployed but that's what's going on here...

DEMS 2020: Trump is so dangerous we'll even accept Joe Biden to defeat him.

DEMS 2022: Losing power is so bad that we're willing to have Trump win to keep it.
