Why should your SCT days be ending? Surely an SCT of any size can do things that no 80mm scope can, no matter how good it is.

Moderator Checks In

Posted By Joe Bergeron

I am reporting for duty as the moderator of this forum. Anyone who wishes to learn of my history with Astro-Physics should look here:

http://homepage.mac.com/joebergeron/a-p.html

You will see that I am a humble visual observer and not much of an imager or astrophotographer. Nevertheless, I shall endeavor to adequately comprehend the comments of all you higher-tech AP guys.

By the way, I designed the artwork on all your AP shirts and hats.

Sirius B

Posted By Joe Bergeron

Just thought I'd mention that I was finally able to see Sirius B through my 155mm EDT at the Winter Star Party last week. I first saw it in an 8" TEC apo, in which it was quite easy at around 500x. Knowing what to look for, I was then able to see it fairly consistently in my 155 at powers above 400X, a delicate point of light farther from the primary than I had expected. It was also visible through Sue French's 10" f/6 Dob.

Who knows how they'll be finished by the time you get your scope? Maybe they'll be finished in holographic polymerized verterons by then.

Video

Posted By Joe Bergeron

Those of you who were at NEAF may remember an elegant creature named Casey Dee who wandered around interviewing people. This may already have been mentioned, but her interview with Astro-Physics is available here:

It's toward the end, right after her interview with some Sky & Telescope columnist.
