Posted By John Kuhl

Hey Vince, Nick is using this mount with his Tak FS 128 and he is very happy with it. Jose also has one of these mounts and he likes it a lot.

What type of finish?

If you use semi gloss polyurethane instead of gloss it will give you more of that hand rubbed look. Most of the big dob makers use poly, Obsession and Starmaster come to mind.

Best 4" APO

Posted By John Kuhl

All of the 4" APOs that have been talked about are great, you would probably be happy with any one of them. I think that the Tak FS102 is most likely the the best deal right now, if money is a issue.

Premium 2" ep

I would go with the 31 Nagler. I have yet to see a eyepiece in this range beat it.

Best ocular arounf 18mm and widest FOV

Posted By John Kuhl

If it were me I would go with the 16 T5 Nagler. This is a great eyepiece, and is the best eyepiece in this range. Other eyepieces in this range that are good also would be the 18 Radian and 19 Panoptic.

Looking for Honest Opinions

The best views of the planets I have ever seen were through my friends 12.5" Starmaster. D&G refractors are great. The big advantage with the APO will be very little or no false color. If false color is a issue with you, get a APO. If it isn't stick with the D&G.
