The real truth, if ya' can handle it? Not a problem for Republicans.
We've been told OMG, you can't shut down the government, it'll DESTROY Republican chances to pick up Seats in the House and the Senate!!! We'll be crushed at the Polls!!!
So, what happened this time around? The gov't was shut down last year, and all the blame went to Ted Cruz, and who
placed this blame on Cruz? Why it was the Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Instead of standing Tall with a TRUE Conservative in the Senate, McConnell stood with the liberal Media and foisted ALL the blame on Ted Cruz, and of course McConnell is the head of the Establishment (Liberal) Republican wing of the Senate, NOW
After all, I say NOW, because he wasn't
before Ted Cruz got up there and stood for priniciple. Thanks Ted Cruz for helping this Republican party win back the Senate.
Of course if one listens to the liberal media or the liberal Republican party, one would think that the world was going to come to an end, when Ted Cruz was standing up for principle, at the same time that Mitch McConnell and the rest of the liberal wing of the Republican party was stabbing him in the back.
We even heard it here, from Republicans who just excoriated Ted Cruz, and told us this would destroy the Republican party when the next election came around. So, what exactly were the results after big bad Ted Cruz shut down the Gov't (well he didn't really, it was Obama and Co)?
It appears that Republicans picked up what will most likely end up to be 9 Senate Seats, and I believe the Repubs gained 13 more seats in the House.
HOW can that be? Weren't we supposed to lose because of the Gov't shut down?
In the last 40 years, there have been 18 gov't shutdowns in total. The last one occurred under the Clinton Administration. It lasted for exactly 3 weeks. What exactly was the outcome after that one, you ask? I'm sure it was just devastating for Repubs, right? I mean it just HAD to be. We were told before the last one in 2013, how history showed that Repubs get the blame all the time for gov't shutdowns, yes?
The facts: After the 1995 shutdown, the next election cycle gave us 2 MORE Republican Senate Seats, going from 53 to 55 R seats, and a LOSS of 7 House Seats (less than the average turnover), however the Republicans still maintained control
of the House of Representatives.
Yes, this awful, horrible shutdown that was going to ASSURE our loss of both House and Senate, resulted in big gains in both.
Now with that fact in hand, why is Mitch McConnell already capitulating to the will of Barack Obama? Perhaps he's just too big a coward to stand and fight for what is right. :S
