Hello Everyone.

This is my first post here in the AP forum.

I'm looking for a scope that will delivery crisp, sharp and exciting views. I plan to use the scope for visual and CCD imaging. I’m considering the AP-130 and the TEC-140. I know both scopes are excellent performers, but wanted to get opinions on the two, if possible any direct comparisons.

Hopefully you AP folks will not give me too much of a hassle for asking about the TEC-140.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

P.S. I’ve sent AP an email as I read on their website that they are re-releasing the AP-130. Does anyone know the timing of this?

AP has discontinued production of the 130EDF/EDT scopes. At NEAF this year they showed a 140mm scope on the Mach 1 mount, but is is unclear if that telescope will be put into production. In any case, the interest list for any AP scope in this size is multiple years long so if you want a scope within the year AP is not the way to go, unless you are willing to consider the used marketplace (which is not a bad way to go).

IIRC TEC will be producing a run of the 140 in 2007, so sign up now if you would like one - by all reports it is a fine scope.

Has there been a price assigned to the AP-140 yet?

It's been some time since I posted this question. Well after being on the list for just over 8 years I got the call and quickly made payment for my AP-130GT! First light was amazing! Saturn was the best I've seen in some time. It was certainly worth the wait.

Thanks again for your input.
