I have a celestron nexstar 5 the begins to move uncontrololably while slewing or setting up alignment. only way to stop it is to shut it off and try to start over, but it just keeps happening. any suggestions?
Thanks
Andre

Definitely check your power source and cables. Make sure you have a full 12volts under load! If it is a battery source, you may see 12v without a load, but it can drop way low with a load. You may have a bad cable if this is a new setup. Also, the pin in the center of the connector may need to be spread. It is a split pin and a razor knife or jewelers screwdriver can be used to spread it slightly so it makes better contact. This is a known issue with these connectors.
Your symptoms are similar to others I have personally observed and read about concerning power issues. (I had a bad cable with a new CPC, so it is not unheard of.)
You may find additional help at Michael Swanson's Nexstar site.
