Is there any way to mount a Sky Scout to a telescope, so that it can be SHIELDED from the metal OTA and used as an object finder? I have a TV102 (and that's a lot of metal) on a Gibraltor mount. With the price reduction, it would be an economical accessory if it would work.

This can work. As long as it's non-ferrous metal, it won't affect the SS...and a couple of outfits are making shields to use when mounting the thing to a scope, too. The fly in the ointment? Don't expect more than "couple of degrees" accuracy out of the SkyScout; if that's good enough for you, have at it.
