Double Stack Unit as Stand Alone Filter

I recently saw an ad for a Coronado II 60mm double stack w/BF10 blocker and an adapter for the double stack filter to be attached to an 80mm refractor scope. Has anyone attempted this despite the warnings that this filter can only be used with the first filter or full scope. Thanks
