This is a picture of the Milky Way from a location in the Sierra east of Placerville at 5,200 feet elevation near Ice House Road. This location has a great south ... we saw Omega Centuri. The image was made with a Canon Ra and a Sigma 70mm f/2.8 macro lens shot at f/4. RGB, H-alpha, and star flare filter images were taken ... processing was with Adobe Camera Raw, Registar, and PS CS6. The location is near the known IHOP viewing areas ... but higher up. We call it IHOP 2.5. A Celestron mount was used for tracking and dithering the images.
