Laser Stars

As far as I can tell, this product has absolutely nothing to do with astronomy. It basically projects a kaleidoscopic pattern of dots on your ceiling. It appears that the patterns are repeated more than a hundred times on an invisible grid like a giant checkerboard. In the middle there is a bright cube of nine stars. The entire image rotates in different directions. There is a cloud projector that creates an image vaguely reminiscent of a gaseous nebula in the center. The cloud image can be turned on or off and adjusted for brightness.

Don't me misled by advertising that clearly states: "The Laser Stars projector will fill any dark space with a super sharp spectacle of animated stars and cloud formations. It will even surprise you with the occasional shooting star." I guess if you lived in a Universe where all the stars were green and occurred in matching patterns this would be true, but in reality it is just a big kaleidoscope, not a planetarium, as suggested by this copy on the box itself: "You'll watch in amazement as the ceiling and walls take on the depth of the night sky with thousands of stars and moving cloud formations". The shooting star function actually works and you see an occasional green shooting star. I received this item as a gift from someone who thought it was a planetarium. It was purchased for $139.00 on the internet.
