Description
IC1871 is an emission nebula located in the northern constellation Cassiopeia at a distance of ~1700 light-years. The constellation Cassiopeia is named after the queen of Ethiopia, from Greek mythology. Cassiopeia was cast into the heavens by Poseidon after boasting the she and her daughter Andromeda were more beautiful than the nymph-daughters of the sea god Nereus. http://owlmountainobservatory.com/
