These rare Unitron (Japanese) binoculars are yellow rubber clad, waterproof, BK-4 with original black case and black and yellow straps - 7 X 50 - NOS. Probably 25 years old. You can just see that the Japan inspection sticker still attached. One had a hand written price tag of $799.

I took one out during twilight, heavy suckers, with green coatings (MgF2, I presume ), amazing sharp optics, great contrast, Individual eye relief adjustment.

I'm not a binocular person so I called a buddy back East who is into optics, and he then had to call a friend who knew about binos. He said almost all of the Japanese B&L/ Unitron mil-grade marine production from the '70's and 80's went directly to the Coast Guard and Navy under government contracts with B&L, and very few were ever sold as private label Unitrons. As my friend's friend told him,, these are quite rare precisely because so few ever came into the public market, and even then, they were sold through B&L distribution channels which were overwhelmingly government and scientific. Is this story accurate--I just don't know. So please draw your own conclusions.

Seller (that's me) pays shipping. Paypal add 3% - USPS MO welcome.

Update - The UV faded pair sold in less than 15 minutes. There are a very limited number of these mint NOS binoculars, These are so minty that some still have the original soft eyepiece/ lens cloth and desiccant pack inside the case. There are no more available from any of my sources---once they are gone--they are really gone.

Update II - A couple of AMer's have emailed me that marine binoculars like these got used up quickly on board a ship due to constant rough handling and ocean spray. New one's were much coveted by officers and crew.
