Canon 40D modified for astrophotography! PENDING

This 40D was modfied by Jim Champagne, who has sold modded cameras on this site and has good feedback. The stock IR filter was replaced with a Baader UV/IR filter which makes the camera much more sensitive for astrophotography, and means you don't have to add the UV/IR filter when using refractors.

The camera's autofocus and metering work as before. The only extra step in taking daytime photographs is taking a shot of something grey or white and setting a custom white balance. This takes about five seconds and in most cases gives you a more accurate WB than even an unmodded 40d would provide.

The liveview is a real boon (and money saver) for the astrophotographer, allowing you to focus the camera on a bright star (a cheap bahtinov mask would make this job even easier!)

The camera has about 17,000 actuations on it. Cosmetically it is in great condition, with just a few nicks (both shown in the photos). Two scratches on the LCD protector, but otherwise in good shape. The LCD of the 40D is very bright and great for both live view and playback. I can trust it to accurately show me the exposure.

I'm selling because I realize my plans for astrophotography were just too ambitious. I now have all the gear, but none of the time I need.

The 40d is an awesome camera. Fast, sharp, responsive, ergonomic. The extra imaging potential of this baby is just going to waste with me.

Comes with original box, manuals, wires, battery, charger, strap (unused). Does not come with any lenses.
