I left my career in clinical microbiology in 2011 but I still wanted to have a nice personal microscope, so I refurbished this Leica ATC2000 by hand-picking the best parts from 2 others (now sold). Used it a few times a month for teaching and pleasure, oculars always capped and covered in non-smoking home. It's a great professional-grade scope in excellent mechanical condition, perfect for vets, teachers/students, marine biology, mycology, gemology, meteorite analyses, etc. Retail $1700 new, $400 firm and will throw in extras below.
Effective 40x-1000x magnification gives you a broad viewing range from insects and flowers to red blood and skin cells, nuclei and even bacteria (oil lens). Lenses are in clean shape with clear views and sharp contrast- would conservatively rate the optics 8.5/10 and cosmetics 7/10. No scratches, fungus, hazing or major dust in the optical train. Field diaphragm for light source with rarely included blue color temperature filter for proper white balance, and standard condenser iris for contrast/depth of field adjustment. Diopter, focuser, and stage adjstument knobs, levers, and lamp rheostat all move smoothly without binding. Why gamble on the cheap clones or used vintage scopes in unknown condition? This one works great out of the box, with accessories/parts widely available. A custom polarized light adapter for viewing geological/biological crystals is available online for cheap as well, the fun never ends...
Included items:
Leica ATC 2000 Binocular scope stand
American Optical #161 10X widefield eyepieces (20mm FOV)
Leica 4, 10, 40, and 100 oil immersion achro infinity objectives (40-1000x mag)
1.25 NA Abbe Condenser
Spare 6V/9W halogen bulb (installed bulb is also new)
60 Pack of unused medical grade microscope slides and coverslips
Bonus 24 pack of vintage, made in Japan prepared specimen slides
Split shipping with insurance in conus ~$30 each, send me your zip for quote. Will ship intl., but buyer responsible for difference above this amount. No trades, thanks.
The manual is available as a PDF on line via Reichert MS. All photos above are unedited, taken afocally with my iPhone- slight coma and off-axis color visible near the edge of FOV, like a classic SCT this is not a problem, it is still visually satisfying.
**If you really want more to look at, have two boxes of ~200 AmScope prepared specimen slides of microbes, human and animal tissues, plants, and insects, large selection. $100 new, will throw in for $80.
