All of our tubes are professionally made of aerospace quality, compression wrapped carbon fiber. These premium tubes have an automotive two-part UV protected urethane clear coat for a beautiful, hi-gloss finish.
Carbon fiber has vastly superior thermal expansion properties over aluminum. With a typical aluminum C-11, you need to refocus for every 1.5 to 2 degrees of temperature drop. Since the C-14 uses a longer tube, the effect is even greater. With our carbon tube, you can easily go many hours without refocusing. During a typical Michigan night, the temperature can easily drop 2 degrees per hour. Hence, Ha exposures over 45 minutes were impossible. Now I can image most of the night without re-focusing. Take a look at the M-27 image I up-loaded. It is a series of 60 minute H-alpha sub exposures (plus RGB). This was impossible for me without the carbon fiber tube upgrade.

I have 1, 15" long carbon dew shield for the C-11. It is made from 6k carbon that matches our current tubes. It has the same clear coat and looks fantastic! Price is $229.95 plus $25.00 shipping. Discount available if ordered together with an OTA tube!

This dew shield fits inside of the front cell. You can either drill and tap the cell for nylon set screws or use felt tabs to friction fit it in place. This dew shield is fully flocked.

I always get a ton of requests for carbon fiber replacement tubes for various Meade scopes. The problem is that the front and rear cells are glued and pressed in place. This is not something most people want to deal with.
