West German Optolyth 80mm Spotting Scope

Optolyth, a West German brand spotting scope in a size and power large enough to make a nice portable astronomy scope-- 30 power, and 80mm multi-coated objective. Optolyth has been in business nearly as long as Zeiss, and has a reputation as a premium spotting scope builder. This scope is one of their ultra-compact folding designs, only 9 1/2 inches long when fully collapsed (as in my pictures)! Serial no. 107780, comes with nice Optolyth-branded leather case and caps. Heavy green rubber armoring in good condition. This scope has very sharp optics, easily showing Jupiters moons when they are close to the planet, and showing some banding on the planet as well. The only downside is that the otherwise clean, clear optics have a few quite small, off-center spots of something on the inside surface of the objective lens-- I suspect maybe splotches of a light lube oil, or maybe incompletely removed residue from someone's past lens cleaning? The tripod boss accepts either 1/4 inch or European standard 3/8 inch fitments. These Optolyth scopes, when sold new, were approximately $700 at DeutsheOptik. Shipping is included CONUS.
