This MEADE SUPER WEDGE is in pristine condition. It will turn your alt-az fork-mounted SCT into a rock-solid equatorial mount for precise polar alignment for long exposure Astro-imaging. The newer version Meade X Wedge is now $750.
Per Meade documentation, the Meade Super Wedge is for use with Models 10 LX50 and the 10-Inch and 12-Inch LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes. The Superwedge permits use of these telescopes in an astronomical, or "equatorial," mode. The wedge fits onto the field tripod and accepts the base of the 10" and 12" fork mounts.
The $250 price is based on a local Pickup as shipping rates are moving higher. For a price of $350, my friend will cover shipping in the ConUS up to $130. If your shipping is less than $100, he will reduce the price accordingly. If Shipping to your location is more than $100, he will cover the cost up to $130.
This MEADE SUPER WEDGE is pristine and was never used by a friend of mine who has a Meade LX200 GPS 12. According to the Operating Instructions, the Meade Super Wedge is for use with Models 10 LX50 and the 10-Inch and 12-Inch LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes. Per Meade Tech Support, the Meade Equatorial Wedge (i.e. Different SKU) is needed to support the 8-inch SCT models.
A wedge permits precise polar alignment of your telescope in equatorial mode (compared to Alt/Az mode). This eliminates field rotation in long-exposure photographs by allowing you to align the telescope’s axis of rotation with the Earth’s axis of rotation. Heavy die-cast aluminum wedge includes fine adjustment knobs and a compass for faster polar alignment.
It is made from very heavy cast alloy aluminum (~26 lbs). There are three large knobs for fine adjustments to bring it into precise polar alignment. It will work with most Meade SCTs from 10"-12", including; LX200, Classic LX200, and LX50. It mounts to the top of the Meade Standard Field Tripod for the LX200, etc.
He prefers a local pickup due to the Shipping weight at +/- 30lbs
