For sale, is my extremely accurate Celestron AVX mount. I have recently gotten the astro-photography bug and I just upgraded to an IEQ45. But let me tell you one thing, if you read a lot about these mounts, some people will say there are good ones, and not so good ones, -- that the quality of each one varies. But this one doesn't just track or Goto on the dime, it tracks on the dime's nose. For example last night I got a good polar alignment and the Goto was spot on and M42 remained in the field of view for as long as I could be patient waiting -- which was about an hour. In that hour of time M42 remained in ctr FOV relative to where it began. Of course you will need to do a good polar alignment for those results. Included is the standard 5Kg weight ( I was using a smaller one in this pic for my 85mm refactor.) The mount has always been stored in doors and I took great care of it. That being said, it is "used" in the sense that there are cosmetic signs of use, particular in the RA and Dec clutches -- where paint is chipped. Also the plastic housing is separating (I do not know what is in the housing but it is visible in the pic it had swung around and hit me in the knee). that plastic housing has become flimsy and that is one of the things about mounts in that price range is some parts are plastic. I am going to bind it up prior to shipping it. In any case the only affect of these cosmetic issues is that it makes me lower the price from $750 down to $675. Bottom line is this AVX does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. It is extremely reliable and rather easy to use. The only thing the user really needs to do is get a good polar alignment, and of course it comes with a polar scope. I am not happy to let it go because this mount has been very faithful to me, again, most faithful when I get a good polar alignment. You need to make sure you get Polaris centered in polar scope and swing the RA around so that the constellation legends etched into the polar scope are oriented the same way your sky view is. That is, if Ursa Major is up to your right at 30 degrees and Cassoepia is straight up to the left, you make sure your polar scope and what you see in the sky match, and oila, you have a goto, tracking mean machine. I think Celestron really put out something special. I should stop typing my description because the more I write about my experiences the less I want to sell this. Anyways, I am getting something with a larger payload capacity and I live in a town home. I am running out of space and I need to replenish my funds that I used to buy the other mount. I am reminding myself why I am selling this awesome mount because honestly I do not want to sell it. I do not like parting with good equipment but I told wife I would sell this mount and not have three mounts in our home ( I also have a TW2 mount).
