I am selling a lightly-used CN16 GPS unit for Celestron mounts. This is the AS-GT version, which means it includes the accessory port expander necessary to connect to the AS-GT mounts, and the mounting cradle to sit the unit on the 2" tubular leg of the AS-GT. (The port expander is the same one you need to self-upgrade the flash-rom in the AS-GT mount, although I have not tried it for that use.)
This unit will also work with compatible NexStar and CGE mounts, but the mounting cradle won't fit (use Velcro) and the accessory port expander option will be unnecessary.
Included:
- The GPS unit
- The port expander accessory
- All cables
- Original box
Not included:
- Original styrofoam packing (I'll pack carefully)
- Instructions (I'll email you help if you need it)
I will pay standard trackable shipping in continental Canada and US for this price (US $150).
Notes
-----
Celestron uses a non-standard protocol for their GPS connection. So this device won't function for any purpose other than this one, unless you are up to the job of making an interface.
The GPS unit provides precise location and time information to the mount, so you do not have to enter your time and location on power-up. This is especially convenient if you frequently observe from more than one location.
The GPS unit does not eliminate the need to do a 3-star-alignment of the goto.
I believe this unit also contains a "level" detector. This is not needed with equatorial mounts but, mounted on a fork-mount, I believe it automates the initial "north and level" phase. Not having a fork mount, I have not tested this feature and am not warranting that it works in this mode, but it's the same unit as sold for the fork mounts, so I'm reasonably sure it works this way.
