Here is a used ZEQ25 mount in fair shape, but functional. I am the original owner and purchased this mount over ten years ago. It comes from a smoke-free home and is surplus to my needs.
Specifications
Center-Balanced equatorial mount for maximum payload and minimum mount weight
Payload of 27 lbs. (12.3 kg) with the mount-only weight of 10.4 lbs. (4.7 kg)
Spring loaded gear system with customer adjustable loading force.
Gear switches on both R.A. and DEC axes for easy balancing when disengaged.
The saddle is the ADM version which is much better than the standard iOptron saddle that came with the mount.
It is best for visual observing using the Go2Nova® 8408 hand controller. (Included)
The hand controller CR1220 battery is new as of September 2026.
It can be used for guided astrophotography using an ASIAIR or with Open PHD software and the iOptron driver for a serial connection. The pictures show control using an ASIAIR.
As in the pictures, guiding control is just average. Other times it is less than one arcsecond RMS, other times it can be worse.
Items to consider.
This mount is old, so the serial connection is 9-pin RS-232. One homemade cable is supplied which is a USB Serial Adapter with FTDI Chipset. Therefore, you can plug this cable into the hand controller and use a standard USB 2.0 port such as those on a laptop. You will need to download the FTDI Chipset drivers for Windows.
This cable also works with the ASIAIR and was used to control the mount for imaging of the Western Veil Nebula.
A second cable is also supplied. This is an Amazon “Ioptron Equatorial Telescope Upgrade Control Console Cable Coding Line Ieq30pro RS232 to 4P4C RJ9 (6FT, for Ioptron).” It also works with the ASIAIR and may be easier to use.
Also:
See last picture. The ASIAIR programs shows an error of “Enable Tracking Failed.” However, the mount does actually track and guide with the ASIAIR.
The ASIAIR Polar Alignment function also works properly with this mount and rotates the RA drive 60 degrees to perform the polar alignment function.
Please note: This mount requires a 12-volt power supply, preferably with a right-angle connector to the mount. The original iOptron power supply is not included as the cable became frayed.
Shipping Costs.
The ZEQ25 will ship in the original metal padded case as supplied by iOptron and then with an overbox. Unfortunately, the weight of the mount, tripod and counterweights are significant. Up to three boxes for the ZEQ25 mount, tripod, and counterweights may be required.
The estimated the overall shipping and insurance costs are in the $100 to $200 range.
The buyer assumes the full ground shipping costs.
The shipping costs may be less if you are located closer to Indiana. Therefore, your packing and shipping costs could be lower. However, if you are located in Indiana, perhaps we can meet halfway and totally negate the shipping costs. I can bring a power supply and demonstrate the slewing of the mount.
The price of $200.00 includes any transfer fees covered by me.
Will accept money transfer services such as Cash App, Zelle or Apple Cash.
If local, cash is always welcome.
Thanks for looking.
