Takahashi NJP with K-Astec Belt Kit, and ASCOM Titan TCS controller 70lb capacity

I purchased this mount from an estate sale. It was in fantastic condition, but had very old motion controls from Takahashi originally. I knew this mount could operate with very low PE with a belt conversion kit and has a capacity of 70 lbs. With that in mind I reached out to K-Astec in Japan who made a belt converstion kit with new stepper motors. They were selling the kits through Astro Shop Tomita. With google translate, and multiple back and forth e-mails, I eventually convinced the owner to let me purchase the kit. He was worried initially that I wouldn't have support here in the states if something went wrong with the installation. But I reached out to Axis Squared here in the Houston area to help with the kit install, and complete teardown and rebuild of the mount. We replaced all bushings with high quality bearings, and even machined new worm mounts to hold bearings. 

I took careful note to maintain everything in original condition in case any future owner wanted to put the mount back in it's original condition. 

The new belt kit uses the Hobym Titan TCS controller, which has an english manual and drivers with ASCOM support! So now you have an incredible mount with super modern features to use with modern software. You can image or run visual without skipping a beat. This mount moves and sounds just like my AP Mach 2. 

Having now tested it under the skies, tracking is fantastic once polar aligned. I've yet to record PE to get tracking even better, but it's already under .5 arc second. The Hobym TItan TCS driver supports recording PE, and K-Astec says with PE the belt kit allows for total periodic error of +/- 2 arc second.

This kit includes the mount head, 4 counterweights, low imaging tripod (pictured), tall visual tripod, ADM losmandy/vixen saddle, K-Astec belt kit installed with TItan TCS controller, 3 feet levelers, and original motors, bushings, and Takahashi Type PD4-XY-B Motor Drive System.
