There is a truly unique home for sale in the exclusive and age-restricted community of Rio Verde, AZ.  It is  North of Fountain Hills and East of N Scottsdale.  This upscale gated community is popular for its world-famous golf courses, private country club and caters to active adults.  It is a retirement destination popular for its warm weather and surrounding natural high desert.  The home is located at the outer boundary of the subdivision surrounded by miles of high desert and a wonderful view of Four Peaks and the Superstition Mountains in the distance.

This property is listed for sale with Tonto Verde Realty and you can view the house’s specs and pictures if you do an internet search by the address or search by its Arizona MLS #6222086.  The house and location are definitely spectacular but, for someone interested in Astronomy, the dome attached to the back of the house is the icing on the cake!

The late Dr. A.K. Parizek, a Phoenix dentist, had a lifelong passion for telescopes.  The observatory at this house was his fifth and last.  It is 14 ft. in diameter and is of all steel construction.   The dome rotates a full 360⁰.

The 3 telescopes that will convey with the house are an 18” classical Cassegrain f-5 and f-34, an 11.5” Maksutov F-23 and a 12.5” f-25 Dall Kirkham Cassegrain.  The optics for both Cassegrains were made by Don Loomis and the calculations were done by Dick Buckroeder,  the Mak’s were made by Ken Hebert.  All were longtime friends.  For additional info search “Parizek” on Cloudy Nights forums.
