Epsilon 160ED with Optec Hercules

I have Takahashi Epsilon 160ED with Optec Hercules for sale.

I have really enjoyed this scope and would honestly love to keep using it. However, I recently added a 14" RC to my remote observatory, and unfortunately, the available space is limited enough that the Epsilon 160ED and the 14" RC can interfere with each other during operation.

Because of this space limitation, I have decided to let the Epsilon 160ED go and replace it with a smaller scope that will fit better alongside the 14" RC.

Takahashi Epsilon 160ED

• I am the second owner of the scope. The original owner purchased it in 2021, and I purchased it from him in 2023.
• The optics are in very good condition.
• The scope does show some normal signs of use.
• There are noticeable cosmetic scratches on the blue front ring of the scope. These occurred while I was attempting to install a motorized flat panel. I realized afterward that I should have placed rubber tape or another protective layer between the mounting hardware and the ring.
• The corrector optics are also clean and in good condition. However, some of the knurling/teeth on the outside of the corrector housing are worn. The corrector was installed extremely tightly in the original focuser, and I had to use a tool to remove it. Some of the exterior knurling was worn during that process. This is cosmetic and does not affect the optics or operation.
• There are also a few other minor signs of use on the optical tube body.
• I have the original Takahashi box and packaging.

Dust Cap Note:
I accidentally left the original dust cap at my remote observatory, which is about a 5-hour round trip from my home. I will be going back to the observatory in approximately two weeks and will bring it back with me. If the scope sells before then, I will ship the dust cap to the buyer separately at my expense once I retrieve it.

Optec Hercules Focuser

• Purchased approximately 9 months ago from Rouz Astro.
• Works perfectly and has given me no issues.
• Original packaging is included.
• There is one fairly large curved cosmetic scratch on the surface of the focuser. This happened when I rotated the camera without realizing that one of the camera screws was making contact with the focuser housing.
• The scratch is cosmetic only and does not affect operation.

Original Takahashi Focuser

• Included with the sale.
• One of the focus knobs is missing.This should not be an issue if you plan to use an EAF or other motorized focuser.
• A 3D-printed EAF adapter is also included.

Gemini Astro Motorized Flat Panel

The flat panel works properly, but there are a couple of cosmetic/physical issues that I want to disclose:

• There is a crack in the carbon-fiber body on one side, as shown in the photos.
• The original 2-pin connector was damaged, so I replaced/reconnected it with a new 2-pin connector.
• Despite these issues, the flat panel is fully functional.

I am located in Norwalk, CA, but I am willing to drive up to 150 miles .

If the setup does not sell locally within the next two weeks, I will consider shipping afterward.
