This is Orions wonderful 5 inch Maksutov telescope and equatorial mount with added drive. It is several years old, but has seen little use. This is a great lunar and planetary observing instrument. Condition is excellent; only a couple of small scratches on the side of the optical tube, hard to see even in the close up photo. The optics and coatings are perfect, like new. It has a very good star test, and gives fabulous views even at high magnification. Like all Maksutovs, there are no adjustments to get out of alignment, its maintenance free. It comes with a mirror diagonal and Orion 25mm Plossl eyepiece (62x). The finder is marked Celestron 6x30 LER (long eye relief, works for glasses wearers). Its probably not original, but looks the same.
Also included is a Celestron made dew shield.
This scope comes with the Orion AstroView EQ Mount, including the optional drive motor for the polar axis. Once set, it will track celestial objects smoothly. The smaller (3.5 lbs.) counterweight will just balance the scope. The whole assembly weighs about 30 lbs., so its pretty easy to carry around. The optical tube weighs 8 lbs. With the heavier counterweight (7 lbs.) installed, this mount can handle much heavier scopes, up to about 20 lbs. It is very stable with this Mak. The tracking motor and electronics are newer than the rest, and work very well, using 4 D-cells, 6 volts. It also has the polar finder scope built into the polar axis to make accurate setup easier. For visual use, I got good results without needing this.
The new cost for this package, including the drive motor is over $700 +. My price is $460 + 20 shipping, in lower 48 USA.
