According to Questar's records, this scope was built in 1964. In 2013 the original owner sent it back and they serviced it, replaced the optics-including the lens cell, and they replaced the case foam. So, optically it is great. The cosmetics are good, but not excellent. Serial # F-476. See photos and the below info.
The control box shows wear on the left side. There are a couple/few dents in the dew shield, and the edge is chewed up. The case foam was replaced, as stated, but is a bit crunchy feeling. I suspect it should be replaced at some point. The latches on the case show their age, but function fine. The thread-on cap is two pieces. The black disc and the ring separated at some point and should be re-glued. I haven't done that, because they stay together by friction for my use. Overall, though, it is a pretty scope for use or display.
The eps could use some cleaning. If I keep it, I will eventually get around to cleaning them. Other than their tight eye-relief, I have REALLY enjoyed using them. I do have someone that wants to buy one of the eyepieces. So, if you don't want them, we can discuss some other arrangement. I just did not want to split them up in case it doesn't sell and I keep it/them.
I am selling, because I ended up with two. I cannot really justify keeping both. However, I am not that excited to sell this one either. But, here we are.
Please, feel free to ask questions, as for specific photos, or make an offer (pretty set, because I am not extremely motivated). Price is $1,700 obo. This includes shipping to CONUS and Paypal fees. Thank you.
