TEC-6 f/12 Maksutov (Ltd.Edition/Yuri’s no. 50 of 50)
This is one of the limited edition TEC-6 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes made by TEC. It’s 152 mm diameter, 1800 mm focal length and weighs only 10 lbs with its dewshield and visual back.
When I bought this Mak in 2015, the seller included this statement in his Astromart ad:
OWNER: “Here’s the ad wording from Yuri when he auctioned TEC 6 #50”
YURI: “Here is your last chance to get TEC6 Maksutov-Cassegrain. This model is removed from production since we are overloaded with refractors. *** Primary made of Pyrex. Optics – one of the best in whole 50 made!

I loved views with the Mak’s 6” aperture (versus my TV-85’s views) so much that I soon got bitten by aperture fever and moved on to a custom 11” dob for my dark sky observing site. As a result, my Mak got much less use. A few years ago I moved to a retirement community with too much lighting for star-gazing. So I sold my 11” dob and now need to sell my TEC Mak #50 as it has been sitting unused for many years: it needs a new, younger owner who appreciates TEC quality. Prefer in person transfer.
Re price, my AI search of TEC-6 value says: “The used market value for a TEC Maksutov-6 telescope ranges from $2,400 to $3,050, though its extreme rarity means prices can fluctuate significantly depending on the specific mirrors and auction timing. ***They are considered high-end “collector items.
