When I made my 6" f/6 mirror several years ago, I followed
plans provided by Texereau to make a pitch lap mold and
cold press plate.  Since I've completed the 6" mirror and
moved on to a larger project, I am offering these hand-made
mirror making tools.

The mold measures 9 1/4" X 16" and rests on 4 rubber
non-skid feet.  The wooden pieces are wrapped in aluminum
foil which does not stick to the pitch, so the mold makes 8
pitch strips that are 1/4" thick by 3/4" wide by 6 5/8" in
length that are then cut into 3/4" by 3/4" squares with
a heated knife.  The wooden pieces are attached to the
base with small nails.  Produces approximately 60 pitch squares
that are attached to the tool by covering the tool with bee's
wax and then heating the underside of the pitch square
with a candle.  I made several laps this way and it works
perfectly for a 6" mirror and perhaps even an 8" mirror.

The cold press plate is 6" in diameter by 1 1/8" thick, also
on rubber non-skid feet that are placed at 0.7R so the
weight placed on the plate distributes evenly across the
back of the mirror when it's cold pressed on the pitch lap.

I'm asking $60 for the two and I'll take care of mailing
expenses via USPS Priority Mail to anywhere in the
continental United States.

You don't see these items too often on Astromart, if
ever.
