Special Offer: [PACKAGE DEAL] another season has gone by since my add last appeared. There were a lot of interested prospects, a few close ones, but no absolute takers. Here is what I am offering this time. Two scopes that I truly would miss, so this is not a dump job by any means. I have a 22.5” Dobsonion and a 12”Meade LX200 SCT . I enjoyed the 12”, my stationary back yard (easy access) scope for keeping up with the planets and using in those extra clear nights from my tree infested / light polluted neighborhood. Once again The 22.5 performed great out in the field. A 4hr trip to Cherry Springs seems to me like driving to Australia. (People sort of laugh when they hear me complain) it’s just me I guess. I hate driving anywhere much more than an hour and a half. I’m no traveler that’s for sure. Big scopes can be lot of fuss if you don’t have perfectly dark skies though I talk myself into putting up with packing up and traveling once in a great while. Then comes standing out in the cold weather Brrrrrrr! Anyway. Here is what I have in mind. I would like to own my retirement back yard scope and I am seeking something in the middle of the line that has both aperture / contrast for general deep sky and great coma corrected optics for stellar / planetary. I just want to have one great scope that mostly stays right in the back yard for as little time I would use in the field. I am thinking a good 14”SCT. Now for those who like the best of both worlds and are aggressive field observers or perhaps you live in the country under open dark skies this might be just the deal for you. The only catch is you must buy both scopes. The 12” Meade LX200 is a 90’s model with the better BK4 glass and has the go-to drive system. I find this to be amusingly accurate and I enjoy finding stars in broad daylight. I have easily found and seen all the planets with sun in sky (except of course Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.) So here would be your planetary scope with tracking and go-to capability. For deep Sky the big 22.5 f4.7 mirror DOB .is hard to beat. For examples you can easily see dark ragged lanes in the Andromeda galaxy; NGC 896 looks like a photo. The Vail Nebula looks like someone stepped in gum and dragged it all over the sidewalk. Crescent nebula looks like the whole egg. The optics are great. This scope is equipped with a Lumicon digital setting circle assembly (included $400.00+ value) One could even sell the Meade and use the cash to put a go-to drive unit on the 22.5 if desired. The design and hardware is worth every penny. It has a unique detachable truss assembly that easily fits into a van. I can travel with it all apart and it stays remarkably well aligned. I have learned I can fit both the Meade and the 22.5 in a Chevy Astro Van. Now imagine that for portability. If interested call Kerry Matt at (717)-393-4840 Lancaster Pa. I will sell both scopes only for $6,200.00 The Dob components alone are easily worth that. Will also include some eyepieces to sweeten the deal.
All can be yours If you want to bring cash, pick up at my residence, and take away. { UPDATE >>> A week ago I spent time working on the mount to improve the 22.5 dob. It has a new pressure treated wood base in the mirror box and a new coat of flat black paint. The materials haven been solidified for added life and protection from weather.
