This is a lovely looky loo! A Hino Optical Mizar 120SL equatorial pedestal observatory model. This comes absolutely complete along with the very rare illuminated Kellner guiding eyepiece and illumination box.

In a quick glance this is a semi-rich field 120mm f/720mm 4.7-inch f/6 reflector mounted to a right ascension motor driven equatorial mount on the observatory grade cast aluminum pier.

This is a DIRECT from Hino Optical of Japan Mizar 120SL. This is not a Meade Mizar; it is the real deal and was NEVER offered to the United States directly and never with the motor drive, illuminated guiding eyepiece, the polar scope, or the pier. It will come complete with the dual ring mount, piggyback adapter mount, observatory-grade graduated .965 rack and pinion focuser (better than most today's focusers!), 6x30 finder setup (Takahashi quality), Mizar equatorial mount with extremely rare RA gear and RA drive assembly, the rare .965-inch 12mm Kellner guiding unit with box, very rare observatory pier for mount, rare polar scope w caps, original weights, original box for the Mizar optical tube, both original dust caps for finder and telescope, and original print instructions for guiding eyepiece.

The pier is direct from Mizar and is the VERY SAME observatory pier that was supplied to Vixen then marketed to Orion Telescopes back in the early 1990s for the Super Polaris mounts. So some very rare goodies here that took me years to put together. The pier will provide outstanding, rock solid stability that none of the smaller Mizar tripod models could provide.

Optical performance will wipe-out a Celestron/Vixen C6N and acts like a larger version of the perfect C4.5 from Japan. It nearly equals the Takahashi MT-130 reflector in appearance and quality of craftsmanship and is very close to its optical performance. It is very competent in the field of observing the main planets, Moon, the entire Messier library, and many other objects.

It is a semi-rich field reflector, so high quality Japanese plossls and orthoscopics will give you the most rewarding views in this vintage setup. It would be wise to avoid most Kellners and all huygens and ramsden oculars.

This setup is 49 pounds when fully assembled, but can be easily moved outside in (3) parts; the optical tube, equatorial head, and the pier.

Please notice this is fully boxed and ready to go, and done so in a manner that the original boxes WILL NOT be easily harmed during shipping. They will NOT have tape and labels on them, but have been shock and moisture protected ahead of time so that these remain in collector's condition. This is an extremely rare setup and has been packed and labeled reflecting great respect to the telescope's history and rarity.

For maximum protection and absolute minimal risk approach, you will receive (4) packages containing the entire setup:

Box 1:  equatorial head, mounting bolts, mount accessories, motor drive kit, and guiding eyepiece kit

Box 2:  telescope optical tube with optics, finder scope setup, optical tube clamp

Box 3:  mount pier with pier feet mounting bolts

Box 4:  pier feet

When you receive the telescope, assembly of the motor drive, secondary mirror, and the finder scope will be required as well as the ability to identify various parts and where they belong. If you are not experienced and well-orientated with vintage equatorial mounts, this may not be the setup for you. You will also need to collimate the mirrors and have the knowledge to do it.

Conditions: The cosmetics on the tube are showroom. A few tiny paint chips (TINY) near the base of the finder mount, but that's it. Hardware and rings and finder mounts are very excellent. Focuser is mint. Motor drive is mint. Kellner guider is very excellent and great+ on the eyepiece and its optics. Motor drive and illuminator work perfectly. Pier is very excellent for cosmetics and pier feet are great with some paint wear, but nothing ugly and no structural damages of any kind. Mirrors are in excellent collectible condition and need no cleaning. Finder is very excellent clean with perfect cross hairs.

Happy to ship to anyone anywhere or deliver up to 250 miles one way from Spokane, WA with a reasonable gas charge in mind.
