OOUK VX16 F4 Dob with PiFinder and More

I am offering for sale an Orion Optics UK VX16 F4 Dob with a Hilux 1/10th wave .988 Strehl mirror. This scope puts up spectacular views. If you have caught aperture fever and want to try a 16" instrument the VX16 is worth your consideration. Because of it's all aluminum construction it weighs less than 16" truss Dobs. The optical tube weighs only 64 lbs., 44 lbs is mirror making it the lightest 16" F4 Newtonian made. The all aluminum rocker box weighs 30 lbs. The scope was special ordered in black, with 1/10th PV wave option and is the only one ever made in black. The scope is about 3 years old. Usually a 16" dob is a two person setup, I am 70 and have built a system where I easily assemble and disassemble the VX16 by myself. Because all the weight is in the bottom, the tube can easily and safely be moved with any small handcart. The rocker box is light enough to carry, but will fit on top of a furniture dolly for no lifting whatsoever. The main problem of assembly is not lifting 64 lbs., but aligning the tube on the rocker box. I solved this problem by modifying a motor cycle floor jack by adding a 18" platform to top of the jack. I place the jack system in the rocker box and raise it up about 1 foot. I then bring the tube with the handcart to the front of the rocker box and slide it off on to a protective surface. I can then squat down, grab the top of the tube trunnion rings and using my legs lift the optical tube on the pedestal and then safely lower it in place. With this set up your lifting 64 lbs about 1 foot for a few seconds. This is about as painless as it gets for a big dob.
