For sale is an optically outstanding Parallax 11in f/7 Newt with a superb quartz Zambuto mirror. If you are looking for a long focal length planetary Newtonian, look no further.
This was Joe Nastasi's (owner of Parallax) personal telescope. Joe told me that "it was one of the best planetary Newts I've ever made. The Zambuto 11" F/7 primary was near perfection.'" I completely agree. Took this scope to S. FL and under almost perfect seeing conditions used 1200X to observe surface features on Ganymede. Jupiter that night looked like a Voyager photograph, with swirls, festoons and belts everywhere. I've observed through many, many optically wonderful scopes and NONE matched the optical perfection of this reflector, under steady FL skies. Hands down beats every one of my 6in AP scopes I've ever owned on Jupiter.
Do a search for "Parabuto" on Cloudy Nights to see an interesting history of this scope from the previous owner. He DPACed the mirror and you can see how super smooth it is. Also jail house straight DPAC bands.
The scope comes with the beautiful Zambuto primary (coating excellent), a Feathertouch focuser, a 2.14in 1/30 wave Antares secondary supported by 4 vane spider, Parallax cork lined tube with boundry layer fan, 9 point floatation cell and tube rings to enable tube rotation. This is a heavy scope, and you need at least an AP900 type mount for it. I had it on an AP900 and it works great. The previous owner had it on an AP 1200.
Pick up only in CT. There is no way I can ship this beast.
