D&G Optical 5 inch and Mount

OTA made 2003.  Five-inch f/12 doublet achromat lens #0655; lens is clean and clear. AstroPhysics 2.7-inch focuser.  Professional case for OTA by Case Technology Inc.  D&G tube rings and Astro-Tech ATDUP13 13" Losmandy D-Series-style universal dovetail plate.  

Cast equatorial head with Losmandy GM8 saddle plate.  Optic-Craft Machining RA drive system with 6-inch worm gear and Hurst AC synchronous motor.  Vogel VE Minitrack RA drive system. Leather and teflon friction clutches on RA and Dec shafts.  Two counterweights.

Tall, sturdy homemade tripod, varnished mahogany legs.  When tripod is set up eq head plate is 56 inches above ground.  Tall, sturdy homemade aluminum pier,  When pier is set up, eq head plate is 62 inches above ground.

8x50 finder scope.  Baader 2458370 1.25-inch Fringe Killer filter.  Telrad.  Farpoint FP325 2 inch desiccant cap (no desiccant).

This rig is sturdy, big and heavy.  OTA in transit case weighs 45 pounds and measures 9x9x60 inches.  Tripod weighs 32 pounds; collapsed tripod measures about 66 inches long by 8 inches round.  Pier weighs 20 pounds; disassembled pier measures about 60 inches long by 8 inches round.  Equatorial head in homemade case weighs 75 pounds and measures 2x2x1 feet.  Counterweights weigh 10 pounds and 12 pounds.
