Up for sale is my Explore Scientific ED127.  This is the version with FCD1 glass, not FCD100.  This scope has served me very well.  It has produced some absolutely great views.  I have upgraded to a Stellarvue SVX130T so this scope is now redundant in my collection.

I have included the Explore Scientific Interferogram Test Report showing an RMS wave value of .029 which translates to a Strehl of 96.7.  I don’t know what the Explore Scientific average is, but I’m sure this is well above that.  When you order this scope new, you roll the dice on what quality you get.

This scope is in near perfect physical condition with only a lightly rubbed Explore Scientific logo on the dew shield from rubbing inside the case.  There are no scratches or dings anywhere, which is surprising for a scope of this age.  The lens is pristine with very little dust visible.  The focuser does not rotate very well, but it travels in and out the full length very smoothly.  I actually didn’t use the factory focuser very much because I installed a 3 inch Feather Touch instead.  The Feather Touch has been repurposed and is not included, but I highly recommend getting one.

The Explore Scientific fitted hard case is included.  It is very nice and isn’t available any longer.

Included in this sale, all in nearly mint condition ($2,250 retail):

  • The scope itself with upgraded ADM Losmandy-style bottom rail and Vixen top rail (originally provided Vixen rail and handle are included) ($1,700 retail + $100+ in ADM upgrades)
  • Explore Scientific hard sided travel case (which is not made anymore, worth $200+)
  • Explore Scientific 8x50 Straight Through Erect Image Finder w/illuminator ($250 retail)
  • Original Explore Scientific 99% 2 inch Dielectric Diagonal (like new - I never used it)
  • Original focuser 2” extension rings

My Feather Touch ED127 adapter collar is available if buyer wants it for an additional $150 cost ($250 retail).

Buyer pays PayPal fees or can use Friends and Family.  I will pay shipping costs to the lower 48 states.  I have the original packing materials so shipping won’t be a problem.
