Hello All,

I’ve got an old StellarVue triplet to sell. It’s the SV-102EDT, #000051.

The tube is not pretty, with about 7 areas of scraped/chipped paint, one of which includes a very slight bit of surface perturbations. Nothing that compromises the structure or the geometry of the OTA, but you want to know the condition of things and the OTA is not perfectly smooth here. The glossy black dew shield is not glossy in all areas, with some minor scuffing and small scrapes around the periphery. Nothing egregious, in my opinion. If you’d like to provide me with an e-mail address, I could make a video of the OTA and dew shield to provide a better idea of the condition.

The triplet element looks excellent! There are a couple of very slight specks as one looks through from fore or aft ends, but I see pretty clear sailing through it all. Im nearing 66, and my fine vision may be imperfect, but it’s in lovely condition and again, a video might be a better show for you.

The OTA is 4 1/8” in diameter. I have never use the scope, and I don’t have the original hinged rings. I thought about ordering a pair, but I thought the buyer might prefer their own choice in these things and so I have not purchased any rings.

The focuser is the old JMI two-speed type, and seemed very popular at the time. It provides 4 ½ inches of extension, and is a 2” format with a 1 ¼” conversion. The two lock-down screws are sharp metal tipped. If I were to use the scope, I’d hunt up replacement screws with a round head, or synthetic tips. There are some interesting posts on an alternate astro site with the initials CN. It’s Cloudy… at Night. The posts discuss quite a few features and details. Apparently, there were about 75 of these scopes made for retail, and another 25 tubes in stock when production ceased, due to the rising cost of the ED glass. Whether the remaining tubes were ever built (serial numbers above 75), I’m not sure.

I’m asking $450 for the scope, including Paypal fees; buyer to cover CONUS shipping

Thank you for reading along!
