The Radian Raptor is a triplet apochromatic refractor. It has a built-in reducer/flattener threaded into the focuser giving it a focal length of 275mm with a focal ratio of f/4.5. It has a standard backfocus of 55mm. The reducer can be removed if desired. It has an image circle of 44mm. This is a well designed scope - the back end where a camera/optical train is threaded has a built-in camera rotator, the focuser has a well for threading in 2" filters, and the hex rings have multiple threaded points for easily attaching accessories. It weighs only 4lb.
This scope has seen very little use and is in like new condition. It was suppose to be my scope for a portable setup that I would take on camping trips. But I quickly switched to a much faster f/2.8 scope since my goal was not long exposure astrophotography (I already have a permanent setup for this) but getting decent images quickly to share with family and friends. But, it turned out I didn't really put the portable system to much use and I'm selling it all off. This was purchased new in 2020 for $999 but not used more than 5 or 6 times.
The scope comes with a padded day pack style carrying case, a short Losmandy dovetail and I've added a 7" William Optics Vixen dovetail. I've also added a ZWO EAF (electronic focuser).
This scope has gotten some bad reviews but it is not due to its quality - this scope is in great condition and works wonderfully! It has a bad rap because it was over hyped/marketed initially as something really innovative when there was a Sharpstar scope with similar features already on the market and for $100 less. But, It's my loss for being too eager in purchasing this and I've dropped the price way down in hopes this will be a great deal for someone.
