The star fields of the Milky Way like dense clouds of stars, the names of the stars, their meanings, the lines connecting them, the mythological figures, the ancient myths of the sky recounted, the history of the constellations, the sky season by season, detailed sky maps.

Fantastic work, the book looks great!

Comment: I got this book for my wife Shelly as a gift. She loves it. Photographs of Constellations with and without the lines forming the Constellations side to side. Can look back and forth from photo of the open sky and same with the labels on. Magnificent presentation that helps memorizing the sky! Paolo also wrote an inscription to Shelly in the cover. I think any astronomer would benefit from having this book.

In order to realize an atlas of the starry sky using traditional photographic techniques years of work are necessary. Paolo Candy succeeded in finishing this ambitious project in less than two years by using a wide-range digital camera. This is a unique book of its kind not only for the Italian panorama with the insertion of the text in the English language. The beautiful graphic laying out and the superimposition of mythological plates over the digital shots, make this volume a very good instrument both for people at their first approach to astronomy and for the more expert observers who will find this atlas a very good reference book for consultation thanks to the detail and depth of the pictures.

Paolo Candys Atlas of the Constellations is a very nice work with text in Italian and English. The widefield shots are beautiful, but what makes this book special is that there is a map each region with three copies of the same image--one untouched, one with major star and constellation labels, and one with mythological drawings. The text has various tables and myths about the constellations. In this era of GOTO scopes, it is nice to be reminded of the beauty of learning the sky.
