[SIZE="Large"]UNITRON #760 - Complete - All original - Excellent condition[/SIZE]
This 1960's UNITRON model 760 is the complete kit (minus manual). The instrument was purchased in the early to mid 60's and has been extremely well kept. The UNITRON 700 series, included a 40mm and 50mm version as well.
The kit includes:
OTA - 60mm x 700mm
The 60mm objective offers very sharp high contrast views and is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips or fungus. Star test is superb and Ronchi test reveals straight parallel lines. Stars appear as sharp pinpoints of light. I have not cleaned the objective and to my knowledge it has never been touched. The lens shield/cell is threaded throughout and acts as baffling. Original 3 metal foil spacers. Includes the 5 x 24 finderscope w/crosshairs perfectly intact, brackets and the 6 original thumbscrews. The white enamel finish has retained its high gloss through all these years and all white UNITRON identification lettering is perfect. A unique 5-1/2" x 1.5" push/pull drawtube for coarse focus adjustment and fine focus is achieved via rack & pinion. The push/pull drawtube is very smooth as is the rack & pinion. The original white hard plastic dust cap was cracked but has since been repaired. The OTA has a couple of small scratches but NO dents. A few paint chips on the very edge of the lens shield.
Mount/Tripod
The mount is a slightly scaled down version of the model 114 Alt/Az. The easy-to-use unique clamp and latch style cradle securely holds the OTA in place. The green felt is as new. All movements are smooth as would be expected. The hardwood tripod shows very little signs of use, a scuff here and there. All hardware is intact and it uses a chain as the spreader, which also looks new. All 3 black metal tips on the legs are excellent with slight paint wear. The mount shows a few paint chips and one scrape on the black crinkle finish near the Alt lock handle. The mount and tripod remain assembled when stored in the wood case so it takes only a few minutes to set up the UNITRON #760 for viewing.
Eyepieces/Diagonal
The original 3 eyepieces included are a SYM.ACH.9mm, K18mm and R25mm; all in excellent condition with zero wear to the white lettering. The .965" diagonal includes the rare achromatic amplifier (Barlow). Also original is the solar filter that clamps onto the top of the EP's (should not be used for looking at the sun).
Hardwood Storage Case
The original case is in excellent condition.
Lastly, the original plastic OTA wrapping displaying the UNITRON logo is included.
