Seeking: TMB 100/800 (preferably in Fluorostar tube).
A chance to own a wonderful piece of history. As I am purely visual, thus I'm seeking the slower f/8. I have done some research and through postings from Markus over the years (he does not have any current knowledge when I sought info from him) this is definitely LZOS glass. I am the third owner - the original owner (who I've communicated with) purchased this scope directly from Tom.
Per AI [for what it's worth]:
"As I wrote before: LZOS built a few 102/650s before the TMB era [ . . . ] The first 102mm lenses from LZOS had serial numbers 980002 (93.9% Strehl), 980005 (94.0% Strehl), 980006 (95.7% Strehl) and were delivered in March 1999 [ . . . ] I have an e-mail from LZOS dated October 11, 1999 in which LZOS writes that they are ready to send the last 5 lenses 102/650, after which there will be the new version 105/650 calculated by TMB . . . in April of the year 2000 the first 105 mm models came out."
As photos show: APM-engraved cell. I have upgraded with a FeatherTouch Focuser (as seen in photo: I mounted the WO 4" extension behind the focuser as in the original setup (this can be removed for Binoviewer use) (original WO focuser included - no finderscope bracket and one knob missing (original owner modified to use with focuser motor)). Tube is not the prettiest (scuff marks, etc but no dents or compromise of the tube) - can send more photos to interested party. Close up of cell shows typical LZOS notations on lens cell.
Note: Original test report missing, but lens is one of the first TMB-designed objectives ever produced. Open to international shipping.
Scope will include rings and matching red Prima Luce plate PROVIDED the scope I trade for includes rings and dovetail (Losmandy D-Series style).
I will not entertain trades for anything other than a TMB 100/800.
Thanks for looking.

Per AI [for what it's worth]:
- TMB History: The first batch of LZOS-made lenses used by Tom Back for his initial TMB designs ended at serial 980006. Your lens, 9800008, belongs to the immediate follow-up set of just five 102 mm lenses that were personally designed and distributed by Tom Back before the series shifted more broadly to the 105 mm aperture.
